With the latest version of Chief Architect, you'll find great new features and functionality that will significantly improve your productivity — and pay for itself right away. If you are a professional, you should have the right tools.

Chief Architect Premier X4 is available in 64-bit and-32 bit versions. The 64-bit version is more efficient in managing memory and you will see better performance on larger plan files.

Improved Chief Architect X4 Ray Tracing. Performance is faster and more closely resembles the basic 3D rendering view. You will find improved lighting through windows with both natural and manmade lighting. See the Gallery of Images

Faster Library Performance and Downloading. The Library catalog system in Chief Architect X4 received a major upgrade in features and responsiveness. You will see faster load times and search times with the Library. The Library system no longer requires subscription prior to downloading. You can immediately download items and save time

Library Filter Tool. You can turn categories of the Library system ON / OFF. You may find this helpful to reduce the amount of content you see or search in the Library. In addition, you can create shortcuts to library objects to customize organization yet avoid duplication

Automatic Foundations. A new option to have the foundation automatically generate and update with the main floor as the design progresses

New Monolithic Slab Technology. Designing slab foundations is now faster, easier, and more accurate. Specify curbing for monolithic slabs and foundations with inset ledges for masonry wall construction. Select components of the slab and adjust garage specific settings to suit your design. Auto Exterior Dimensions for Slab Foundations, including step-downs for garage door openings

New Text Style tools. Control the appearance of Labels, Text, Dimensions, and other text objects using the Text Style tools. Text Styles can be assigned per layer, per default, or per object basis. Text Styles, when used along with Annotation Sets, can help quickly toggle styles and defaults and greatly help with productivity in producing plan sets

New thru-wall settings for added framing control

A new Object Layer Properties edit tool is available as a shortcut to modify the layer properties for any object or group of objects

Assign Cameras to specific Layers. You can create layers for cameras, assign cameras to those layers, and toggle the layer ON / OFF. There is a new default setting that can be defined for active cameras in the general camera defaults. If you ever need to do detailed editing and a camera is in the way in your 2D plan view, simply turn that camera layer Off

New Set as Default option. The new Set as Default tool allows you to click on an object, and store those same properties as the default. When a new like object is placed, it applies those default settings. You can use this for any object with a default, such as doors, windows, or cabinets

Enhanced Wall Editing. In addition to setting a wall length with an adjacent wall dimension, you can now use the parallel dimension to set the length from the start, end or center of the wall

Box and Bump-Out Extension Snaps. As you draw walls, you will see a new snap indicator when walls are co-linear or align, such as this pop-out section. When you complete the walls for a room using the right click continuous wall drawing method, there is a new preference that is set so you can exit from this mode

Append text to dimensions. Insert additional text before or after the dimension value for any dimension

New Labels for Layout Boxes. Automatic labels for layout views will display the camera name for elevation and section views or the floor plan name for plan views. Create custom labels that will move with the views and you set up you layout

Enhanced control over arrowhead styles. Specify the arrowhead type used for Joist Directions, Sun Angles, Roof Labels, Stairs and Ramps

Automatic Roof Labels. Display labels for roofs, skylights and holes. Label includes pitch direction arrow and the roof angle in pitch or degrees. It has its own layer that can be turned ON / OFF

Pony Wall height controls. There are new Pony Wall height controls available to adjust the height of the lower wall in the Wall Dialog. This is in addition to making the same type of adjustment in an elevation or section view

A new Thru-Wall control and layer. The Wall Thru Option controls how framing is generated. With the new Thru Wall Options, you will find improvements in how intersecting wall connections are displayed.

New Bearing Wall option. Define a wall as a Bearing Wall and a footing, or foundation wall will build when a foundations is generated

Enhanced railings that intersect roofs or ceilings are now automatically clipped to fit the slope

Align wall layers with foundation. Use the wall setting “Foundation to this Line” to specify the alignment of walls with foundations walls

Slab footing specification. Control footings for slabs on a per edge basis; resize, dimension, or exclude the footing

New Door Defaults by Door Type. There are now unique door defaults for every type of door: hinged, pocket, bi-fold, sliding, and garage. You will also find a new Open Door in 3D tool that allows you to toggle most doors open/closed

Frameless Cabinet settings. There is a new Full Overlay and Frameless Cabinet option to quickly change from a framed box to a frameless box. You can still define the traditional overlay and inset options

Blind Corner Cabinet Controls. With this new default setting, you can turn Automatic Blind Corner Cabinet behavior ON / OFF. If you are using framed cabinets and want control over the stile for blind corner cabinet, simply adjust the stile and obtain the look you are after for your 3D views or elevation views

Stacked Molding – it is now easier to create Stacked Moldings for rooms or cabinets. Specify vertical and horizontal offset distances with different Molding Profiles to create stacked moldings or built-up moldings

There is a change in terminology for lighting and an improvement for Lighting Units. For intensity, we now use lumens as the lighting industry continues to phase out incandescent lighting and the term “watts”. You can choose the lumen value for lights or specify a custom value

Light Control. There are new edit controls for lighting that allow you to turn an individual or group of lights ON / OFF

For added Light Sources, you can uniquely name the light for easy recognition. There also is an offset that can be specified for the label. This offset is now in all objects with labels. So you can use this on such items as doors and windows to precisely control your labels

A new continuous draw mode for Electrical Connections can help you quickly draw electrical connections. You can still edit the circuit and change the appearance

For National Kitchen & Bath Association members, you will find the NKBA design Guidelines in the Tools menu. The toolbar will allow you to access the document from the Chief Architect website



Please read the IMPORTANT.txt file inside the package before installation. It will guide you step by step to succesfully install the software so it will fully work.
